B.I.G. JESUS PIECES

March 10th marked the 25th Anniversary of the death of Christopher Wallace aka BIGGIE SMALLS.

I will never get tried of painting BIG.

Never.

Biggie Smalls was the first print block image that I attempted to carve. I picked an image that I KNOW what it’s supposed to look like. The image is ingrained in my brain! So when I get new tools to experiment with…. I do what I know best, Biggie!

I grabbed a short run of hoodies and went to work. I had a lot of fun creating this new pattern. The white BiGGIE over brocade and hand drawn crowns gave me a god like feel as we know he is no longer in the present realm; reminding me of Jesus pieces! And like Jesus, BIG led an entire generation to salvation through music and song.

The Jesus piece is a cultural iconic fashion statement – transcending religion, spirituality, race, and culture. If you walk the streets of Brooklyn, you will come to understand that Christopher Wallace is a GOD in these Bed Stuy streets. There is a mural on many corners. We will celebrate him FOREVER. He made it out of the hood and never forgot where he came from. Not only that, he brought us will him. His stories are ours; as is his success.
